H.E 9th Kunsang Dorjie Rinpoche la
His Eminence the 9th Kunsang Dorjie Rinpoche was born on the 10th day of the 5th Tibetan month of the iron horse year following auspicious signs. During his birth his mother saw visions of offering dakinis with nectar vases pouring milk on her as she gave birth and she gave birth instantly without any pain or difficulty. When the family went to pray in the altar room, they found all the water bowls in the prayer had turned to milk. Astonished, the family thought that this child was not a normal being. And when they experience the young boy’s character of choosing to sit upright in a meditative position to sleep rather than lying down they thought that he must be a reincarnation of a great meditator. Then at the age of 2 the young boy had nightmares of himself being killed at the same time every night just after midnight. He would shout “don’t kill me,don’t kill me” later that they confirmed with other high lamas that he was the reincarnation of the 8th Kyabje Kunsang Dorje Chang who was being killed during the time of the cultural revolution in Tibet. Rinpoche at a young age unlike other children had no interest in playing games or being with crowds. He rather spent his time building mandalas out of sticks and paper and would burn it down the moment he finished it, he would then teach about impermanence to anyone who had come to see him. Rinpoche’s grandfather an accomplished master himself groomed him and guided him in the dharma teachings since his childhood and inspired him to continue his spiritual duties from his previous life. He gave the teenage boy all the transmissions and empowerment of the lineage and advised him to go for a 3 year retreat which Rinpoche completed. After his 3 year retreat at 18 years old, Rinpoche took the interest of pursuing a normal education and attended college and eventually finished his architecture degree. He later took the responsibility of his lineage to continue travelling the world to spread the teachings and inspiring others with the teachings of the Buddha. Till today ,Rinpoche had travelled and taught in more than 16 countries around the world and is now based in India and Nepal where he lives and teaches.
