Menlha Jamtse Tibetan Buddhist Centre (MJTBC) was established by Geshe Lharampa Lobsang Tenzin in 2018, located in the bustling city of Mumbai, India. The name “Menlha Jamtse” translates to the “Love and Compassion of Medicine Buddha,” reflecting the centre’s mission to promote healing, compassion, and spiritual growth.
(The Menlhai Jamtse Tibetan Buddhist Centre was officially registered as the Section 8 nonprofit organization “Menlhai Jamtse Foundation” in 2022.)
Mumbai, with its large and diverse population, has many individuals interested in Tibetan Buddhism. However, there has been a lack of places for systematic study of Tibetan Buddhist teachings in the city. This gap motivated Geshe la to create MJTBC, offering a space for locals and visitors to explore Buddhist philosophy and practices.
In a city known for its fast-paced, often stressful lifestyle, many of Mumbai’s inhabitants struggle with personal and professional challenges, leading to anxiety and mental strain. Recognizing the therapeutic benefits of Buddhist practices like mindfulness, meditation, compassion, wisdom and mind training, Geshe la offers these teachings to help individuals achieve emotional healing and cultivate inner peace amidst the pressures of modern life. MJTBC aims to provide not only a spiritual refuge but also a pathway to greater emotional well-being for all who seek it.
